My name is Katie Blalock and I’m currently a Sophomore at ASU. I’m studying Journalism and Mass Communication at the Walter Cronkite School, and I absolutely love it. However, I spend most of my time doing homework and studying for school since I’m taking 16 credits and I need to maintain a 3.5 GPA to keep my scholarship. When I’m not studying, I love to go hiking, play piano, write, watch movies, and go on weekend trips with my boyfriend. I also spend my Tuesdays and Thursdays working at my internship at Marketingworx PR, which is a small public relations firm. I do a lot of social media work and work with wonderful people that help me grow in my writing skills. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I expect it to always be at the center of my life.

Unfortunately, my internship is unpaid. So on the weekends, I work a lot at my serving job so I can pay my bills for college, my car, and other fun things I like to do. Being a waitress pays well, but at a cost. It’s not an easy job to learn and it requires constant motivation and determination if you want to make good money doing it. It takes a certain person to be a waitress because there are a lot of pros and cons to being in costumer service and the food industry. You also experience many customers and events that would make most people quit on the spot. But don’t worry, in this blog I’ll explain how to deal with all of the negative experiences that come along with being a server. As a result, you’ll learn what it takes to be the best waitress ever!
